You are requested to go through the case study given above before reading the analysis. The above case study is based on women in the energy sector. The case study talks about how gender plays a role in the energy sector and what all are the fields in the energy sector where discrimination takes place. The main areas of concern from the case study are :
- Pay difference
- Work difference
- Sex ratio
- Education background
The above are just a few of the reason which are the reason for discrimination in the energy sector. The research done by The Society of Women Engineers in 2006 helps in understanding the data and effect of various factors on discrimination. The main analysis done is on the fact that the number of women from a background of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) are LOW.
Hence, it’s clear that the problem needs to be tackled at the root which is education. If there are already educated women, then is the selection procedure of the sector which is different. Whatever the reason may be, it’s necessary that it’s tackled properly and a solution is found after conducting proper research.
